Steve Byrne: Korean + Irish = Great Comedy

Part Korean and part Irish, comedian Steve Byrne is the perfect combination of laid back and high energy. Originally from Freehold, New Jersey, Byrne and his family moved to New York City during his senior year of college. Byrne began working at Caroline’s Comedy Club in NYC, where he became interested in doing stand-up himself. In 1997, Byrne performed stand-up on stage for the first time.

Currently, Steve has three stand-up specials on Comedy Central. Comedy Central Presents: Steve Byrne is a half hour special, while Happy Hour and The Byrne Identity are an hour long each. Steve has made countless television appearances on shows including The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Delivering comedy to the masses, Steve has toured with the all Asian comedy group The Kims of Comedy. Steve has also been featured in many national comedy tours including the Just For Laughs Festival, The Jameson Comedy Tour, and three USO tours. The USO tours have brought him to Iraq, Afghanistan, Japan, and Guam.

After seeing Steve’s half hour special on Comedy Central, I was instantly a fan. His jokes are unique and his physical comedy is high energy, yet his personality is laid back. Now that I know he has two other hour long specials, I will definitely be on the look out for the DVDs. If you haven’t seen any of Steve’s stand-up, be sure to look him up on Youtube and buy his DVDs!

Daniel Tosh: Inappropriate? Yes. Hilarious? Absolutely.

German-born and Florida-raised, Daniel Tosh is one comedian that you won’t soon forget. A college graduate from the University of Central Florida and now living in L.A, this 34 year old comedian has made a name for himself, especially among the college crowd. Tosh has graced over 700 college campuses with his humorous, although quite frequently offensive, comedy. On top of that, Tosh is currently one of the most requested headliners in the entire country.

Daniel has two stand-up specials on Comedy Central and has made numerous television appearances on shows like The Late Show and The Tonight Show. Presently Daniel is the host of his own TV show called Tosh.0, where he mocks and cracks jokes at ridiculous viral videos.

True Stories I Made Up is the fitting title of Daniel’s comedy album. He also has a DVD of his stand-up called Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious. Sometime this year Daniel is supposed to shoot another special on Comedy Central with a CD/DVD to go with it.

I watch Tosh.0 pretty much religiously. I own his CD, True Stories I Made Up, and it is definitely one of the best comedy albums out there. His laid-back persona and offensive jokes delivered in a serious manner are only the beginnings of what makes Daniel Tosh hysterical. Check him out!

Bo Burnham: Boyish Good Looks & A Foul Mouth

Robert "Bo" Burnham is a young comedian from Hamilton, Massachusetts. Burnham began writing comedic songs and performing them in his bedroom for an audience of one, a video camera.  In 2006, his audience grew as these videos became internet sensations on Youtube.  Performing live shows got Burnham into the stand-up comedy circuit, where his songs and personality won over fans.

Bo made his television debut in August 2008 with his half hour stand-up special on Comedy Central.  His self-titled full length CD was released in March 2009.

Hit songs include "I'm Bo Yo", a first hand account in "High School Party", and the ever controversial yet hilarious "Klan Kookout".  Smart, witty, and hysterical, Burnham's songs will keep you laughing even after the hundredth time you've listened to them.

I bought Bo's album the minute it came out and have not stopped listening to it nearly a year later.  Every time I listen to the songs I discover new puns and am laughing like it's the first time I've heard the song.  Not only are his songs hilarious, but they are also really catchy.  I highly recommend checking out Bo Burnham, and if you like him, be sure to pick up his self-titled CD/DVD.
